Temperature- The exact measurement of how hot or cold something is.

1000 word story

I walk down the streets clutching my sisters hand. The moonlight shines down on us.

We have no home…..No parents.

When I was five years old my Mamma died in child birth. We had no money which meant no hospital.

I was in my bedroom when my mother had Camilla.  Her  screams deafened the house. It was like living in an nightmare. After she died my father became unhappy and violent.He would hurt us every day.  When Camilla was four we ran away.

We live on the terrible unforgiving streets of Brazil …but that’s what happens in Brazil when death strikes… 

100 Word story

My heart was thumping! I was running away from the Nazis!!

I could see the old barb wire gateway  in the distance. I was bolting  for it with my friend Darcy. I glanced over. She stumbled over rolling over and over blood gushing from her head. I pulled her up and threw her over my limp body and began running.  I dropped her over the gate I jumped over. Pain from my legs was burring. I could see blood every were over my body.Darcy’s head was still bleeding furiously. I was running in the black, cold moonlight blood everywhere…….HELP!

Activity 1

Experiment-  Is something that you do to see what happens.
Viscosity- How watery something is
Hydrogen- It is a gas it is found in water.
Helium- is a gas it is in balloons
Composition- putting things together to form one.

Activity 2

The  four states of matter. Are things all around us. Like plasma, gas,liquid and solid. In water there is hydrogen. Hydrogen is a gas.Fire is plasma. Water is a liquid. A table is a solid. Everything is made up of atoms. The atoms form it in to either plasma , gas , liquid,or solid.

Spelling Week 10

Activity 1 –

Write a paragraph using 5 list words. Make the paragraph interesting to the reader;
remember word choice as a trait to embellish your paragraph.

The wind swiftly swooped past the gathered people.A murmur of confusion stretchered along the crowd.The Premier had called the town to the hall. His security  go up.A baby winced as the tall man began to enter the stage. He started to mumble about justice and the right that nurses and teachers should be paid more.Nobody listened that was in till the premier came up to speak. He shouted and said that no one would have the job they had if there was not teachers.’THEY DESERVE BETTER’! He yelled. He spoke about how the parliament were going to start funding the nurses and teachers better! Everyone cheered!

Activity 2

Use a dictionary to assist you to formulate the meaning of 5 list words.

Justice- has more than one meaning. Justice can describe the system that makes sure the community is fair and justice is available to all. For example the police make sure we have justice in our community by arresting criminals. Judges make sure we have justice by putting people who do the wrong thing in jail.

Parliament there are two types of Parliament in Australia and State. Federal Parliament is in Canberra and Tony Abbott is the Prime Minister of the Federal Government which runs the whole of Australia in partnership with State governments. The State Parliament in Victoria has a Premier called Denis Napthine and he is the head of the Victorian Government. Which is where parliamentarians who are elected by voters.

Security- A group of people who prevent danger.

Murmur- Saying something not very loudly.

Premier- Someone who is in charge of there state.

a. Weather, wether and whether. Weather means the temperature of something. Wether- not sure. Whether or not you get what you want you have to deal with it.

b. Way, weigh, and whey. Way is a direction something like- That is the wrong way to go turn left.Weigh means how much something’s or someone’s mass is or weight. Whey is the watery part of the milk.
c. Wear, where and we’re- Wear means something that you put on. Where means where are you . We’re means a group of people.
d. Praise, prays and preys. Praise means worshipping something. Prays means a religious way to talk to god- The girl prays for her mother. Preys is something like the tiger crept up on his prey.
e. Saw, soar and sore- Saw means you have spotted something. Soar is something like- The girl saw the the bird soar through the sky. Sore is if you hurt your self like the sore was bleeding!
f. Wails, Wales and whales.Wales is a place in Europe.Whales is a animal that is very very very big! Wail means a type of crying like the girl wailed in agony.
g. Right, write and rite. Right means something is correct like you got it right. Write means to tell something on a piece of paper. Rite is a religious thing.

h. Awe, oar, or and ore. Awe – something that you’re overwhelmed or scared by. Oar – something that you use to row a boat. Or – when you’re comparing something. Ore –  something you find when mining, it holds the precious jewels.

My father taught me every thing about life. He always told funny stories.Every night when he got home I would run up and hug him. We would race back..

I grew up and had a kid of my own. Dad grew older with me but his memory faded.

I came to visit him one day. I sat by his bed. He said to me you go on son you go on. He passed away a while after. I sat by his coffin …but I thought I had enough time… To say goodbye. He knows I love him that’s what matters.

Activity 1

My name is Malala I come from Afghanistan.I came to Australia as a refugee to have freedom. I spoke a foreign language so I had to learn English. I found it difficult at first. Now I am in the industry of forestry. I have come so far from the little girl who escaped from Afghanistan. I could not even say my name. Now after studying at the University of Melbourne I have two degrees in forestry! Today I am now an official citizen of Australia. I can now vote in the election! I am so happy. ‘I have come so far’!

Gambling-  Playing a game that is purely about chance.

The state government spends its funds through a series of departments, each of
which provides services  for the public. Each department is responsible to a
cabinet minister, but has a permanent head as well. This head is a permanent
senior public servant , who usually hold his or her position for many years. On
the other hand, the Cabinet ministers change from time to time, usually as a result
of an elections.

Copyright is a right to make sure that nobody else copies your work. A conference is a gathering of people where they  present ideas to each other. Criminals are people who are found guilty of breaking the law. Currency is money. Custody is being legally responsible for someone.

Activity 3

That night when it was dark, they quietly crept along and went onto the ship’s deck. Everyone was too busy to notice them. By and by they came to a black square hole. Using a ladder they crept down into the hole. After a little while, they found a lower deck. They entered the lower deck and just as they stepped into the hole they realized it was covered.
